One of the most popular sightseeing spots in Japan, the 「Kanazakura Temple 」 is believed to hold a rich history that dates back all the way to approximately 2,000 years ago.
Shinto practitioners in Japan believes in ancestral spirits that resides within various objects in nature, such as mountains, rivers, and other natural formations. It is within the Kanazakura temple that sits atop the peak of Mt. Kinpou that a ritual to worship the festival god, named Sukunahiko-no-mikoto, is carried out. The temple has also become the place where the sacred treasure is buried – sacred crystals which were given the name “Fire Sphere dan Water Sphere”.
Additionally, the temple is home to the “Kanazakura” tree, which blossoms turn golden and is worshipped as the “Yellow Sakura”. The tree blossoms start to change to its light, golden colors from the end of April until early May. It is widely believed and said that whoever visits the temple to view the Kanazakura trees and acquire the sacred crystal from the temple will be forever blessed with a lifetime of wealth in his/her life.
To make things more interesting, the Kanazakura Temple also houses a Japanese cedar tree as old as 800-1000 years old, which will without a doubt take your breath away when you come across it.
